Albuquerque Police -- Honor Guard

Albuquerque Police Department Honor Guard patch

This patch was designed in 2007. The entire Honor Guard team had input as to what they wanted on the patch. We wanted to give honors to all fallen heroes. After we went to Washington, DC and were at the National Law Enforcement Memorial we decided we wanted the Wall on the patch. There are two officers on the patch with the Law Enforcement Memorial Wall (My best rendition) on in the background. One officer is rendering a hand salute while the other officer is playing Taps. The United States flag is flying over our fallen heroes. We tried to have the flag at half mast, however, it would not come out right given the limited space on the patch. The flag is waving in the breeze and it is facing the correct way as to have the stars going towards the heart. I choose a bright mostly sunny day so that God could look down and see the Memorial. The two officers used on the patch are Sergeant Mark Garcia (hand salute) and Marcus Moya (playing Taps). The art work was done by Sergeant Mark Garcia and the patches were made by Mr. Nate Korn of Kaufman's West.

The Albuquerque Police Department Honor Guard is currently averaging over 80 events per year. These events include posting and presenting the Colors at ceremonies, parades, and attending all retired APD officers and civilians and other special events/requests by the Chief of Police or the Mayor. We also assist other agencies as requested for in the line of duty deaths.
